Abstract

The complexity and intricacy of management research is growing, necessitating new approaches to problem solving and data analysis for better comprehension and clarification of social occurrences. In the study, the applications and contributions of mixed-methods research design in management science were investigated. An exploratory research design was used for this study. This paper promotes mixed-methods research design as an additional research method to the conventional quantitative and qualitative research approaches by locating the study in the context of some of the typical research paradigms. An evaluation of the design types, applications and contributions of mixed methods in the discipline of management sciences were assessed. This study came to the conclusion that understanding mixed-methods research will help researchers develop and analyse research questions in management research more successfully if they are aware of the design alternatives associated with this method. Additionally, it has tremendous potential for tackling both management related topics and other specific issues.
